Recycled water: why it matters for plumbing
Mawson Lakes was developed from the late 1990s with a dual water supply. Drinking water comes through one set of pipes, and Class A recycled water comes through a separate set, marked with lilac pipes and fittings. In homes, the recycled supply is used for flushing toilets and watering the garden.
That means a plumber working in a Mawson Lakes home needs to know which supply they’re connecting to. Fitting a new toilet, moving a garden tap, replacing a cistern valve or renovating a bathroom all involve checking the supply, so recycled water never ends up connected to a basin, shower or kitchen tap. The City of Salisbury also audits homes for cross-connections, so it pays to get it right first time.
Hot water and gas in newer homes
Most Mawson Lakes homes are newer than the surrounding suburbs, so the jobs here tend to be hot water replacements as original systems reach the end of their life, tap and toilet repairs, gas appliance changes and renovation plumbing rather than old pipe failures.
If your hot water system is approaching 10 years old and starting to give trouble, it’s worth talking through replacement options before it fails completely. See hot water systems.
Businesses and the university precinct
Mawson Lakes also takes in Technology Park and the university campus. We do commercial plumbing for businesses across the north, including maintenance, repairs and fit-outs.
